History of Brookside 07926
and 1733, the site of present day Brookside was chosen. It was set in the intersection of two great miles, the east Penn-Lebanon Valley and also the Schuylkill river. This site was referred to as Finney’s Ford until 1743 whenever Thomas Lawrence, a Penn Property agent, made the first attempt at design for Brookside.
In 1748, the city was laid out by Thomas as well as Richard Penn, the sons associated with William Penn. The name was selected after Penn’s own county chair, Brookside, in Berkshire, England. Within 1752, Brookside became the region seat of Berks county.
